Contributor attribution playbook every author credited, every PR checked
A task brief for your coding agent: credit every author and co-author in a repo's history, and check every PR from now on. Built for Hermes Agent, works in any project.

Hermes Agent credits its contributors with one small file per commit email: contributors/emails/[email protected] contains that person's existing GitHub username, such as janedoe. Separate files mean fewer merge conflicts, and the release tooling uses these mappings to credit people. See Hermes's contributors/README.md.
This playbook is a task brief that brings the same system to any repository, and makes it stricter. Give it to your coding agent and it will:
- Scan every historical author and co-author.
- Recover original credit lost in merges, squashes and copied upstream work.
- Create confirmed email mappings, and record the identities it can't confirm instead of guessing.
- Add contributor instructions, agent rules, a PR checklist and a CI check.
From then on, every PR is checked, human co-authors included. Anyone who authors or co-authors code gets their entry in the contributors folder in the same PR, linked to it, and the maintainer approves it with the PR. Work brought in from another project gets its own source record, so both the original authors and the later adaptation keep their credit.
Copy it into your repository and give it to your agent as its task brief. Its links to Hermes's files are pinned to the commit they were checked against.
